In fact, India (Indian National Congress) started celebrating Independence Day on 26 January in 1930 but later 26 January became Republic Day and from 1947 15 August was celebrated as Independence Day.

15th August is a proud day for us, we consider this day like a festival. On this day all brothers and sisters sing the national anthem together.
         The demand for independence had started long back in which lakhs of youth had contributed and many had also sacrificed for their country, gradually the freedom struggle got stronger. In February 1947, Lord Mountbatten was elected the last Vice-Royce of India.
The author of the national anthem of India, Shri Tagore Ji wrote the national anthem in 1911. But this song was made the national anthem in the year 1950 and the next day i.e. on August 16, the tricolor was hoisted from the Red Fort.
That’s why on this day 15th of August we Indians have celebrated it as a festival and as a pride, many memories are attached to it. On this day all of us countrymen, Indians, perform together and sing the national anthem while waving the tricolor.
